If you had to choose, would you rather your lover be good looking or funny? Where does honesty fall on your list? Do you expect a mate to have money? Canadian romance publisher Harlequin Enterprises recently conducted a survey asking people on 6 continents (in 16 countries) about traits they liked or disliked and how they went about trying to meet "the one." Last Wednesday, they published the results. It's probably not a surprise to learn that when it comes to romance, women prefer someone who makes them laugh while men opt for those who catch their eye. But as much as men and women are different, the study revealed how residents of different countries varied in the way they tried to impress the opposite sex. Australians and British men frequently admitted drinking too much, while about half of German and Italian men said they had lied about their finances, according to Reuters. The men of Spain were the most likely to use sex to catch a paramour's attentions. Eighty percent of... (more)

The Sonics, The Action, The Seeds,... Copy Cat??
There are two types of people when it comes to A.R Rahman and his music. One, they either love the man for breaking out of the mould, the extremely creative songs he comes up with and with his use of talented youngsters. Some cut right through and hate him enough to call his music trademark repetitive & boring. Personally, I have wavered between the two. But as I listen to him crooning 'Tu Bole Main Boloon' from Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, I can't think of how much he's letting himself down trying to imitate Sting in his style of singing, the use of the sax in the background and the overall feel of the song. The songs of Sting that have been heavily borrowed from that come to mind immediately are 'Englishman in New York' and 'A Thousand Years'. Come on, ARR, you can do better than this!!!! Mull over that, will you, while I freak over Sukhwinder singing "Jaane Tu Meri Kya Hai' :)

It's my second day of walking home from work, my vain attempt to revitalize a soft, weak body. I sit down on the living room couch, rubbing my stinging feet. My mom follows me and says, aghast, "Your breasts are FALLING OUT OF YOUR DRESS!" "What?" I look, but not before I refrain from saying, "I think I would have felt that." For her sake, I check, in case somehow I can't keep track of a couple of things attached to my chest. Barely anything to call home about, and I'm a girl who feels nervous about exposing her knees. I adjust the straps of my camisole. "There, fine." It, apparently, does not matter that I'm wearing a long jersey dress (with demure cap sleeves), leggings to the ankle, and flats. Compared to the women I had passed on the way home, flashing more skin than might be anatomically possible, I am comically overdressed. This clearly does not cross her mind. She retracts, her wary disapproval lingering. She continues watching my chest for a moment, like my breasts might... (more)
